Mannofield lose season opener.
By Steven Elliott
But its not all bad.
Mannofield won the toss and fielded first.
Indy and Lewis opened the bowling and after the most outrageous "non walk" we will see all season (hopefully) things settled down into a good mannered well contested innings.
After an initial opening stand of 64 wickets fell fairly regularly with all bowlers and fielders performing well.
Wickets were shared around with Stu, Dunc, Greg and Natesh taking two wickets each. Lewis grabbed one and Ken secured all 10 bowling points with a run out at the end.
Greg Thompson made a promising debut with his slow left arm spin and all fielders showed great energy especially Joseph and Ken who never stopped running.
After a very enjoyable tea our batting didn't live up to our performance in the field.
With a mixture of bad luck, some very good bowling and one or two indifferent shots and possibly a questionable umpiring decision (you know who I mean.... Dunc) we collapsed to 77 all out.
Remarkably Indy managed to score 52 runs of the 69 from the bat, leg byes being the second top score with 6.
Batting practice this week is a must if we are to post match winning totals.
