And we got 3!

After torrential rain in the morning we turned up at Duthie Park to find many puddles on the outfield.
Clearly the game would be called off, teas were cancelled and we all planned for an afternoon watching the Euro's.

However... A pitch inspection was required by the away team who reliably informed me that the park drains well!
Grammar were clearly very keen to play the whipping boys of Grade 1.

The toss was delayed an hour for the floods to subside which they had to a certain extent, the game was reduced to 35 over's per side.
Manno won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first.

Grammar got off to a slow start against the pace & spin opening attack of Rory and Stu, however Stuart clearly not used to bowling in wellingtons pulled a groin muscle and had to leave the field. His blood curdling scream of pain still keeps me awake at nights!

Stuart was replaced in the field by Joseph who at least restored the family pride with an excellent display in the field.

Grammar began to up the pace with the bat which the Manno bowlers struggled to cope with, not helped by our inability to catch.
I am hoping that standing in a wet field and out in the rain the previous week that some of us may start to develop webbed fingers, surely this will improve our catching.
At least 5 catches were dropped that enabled Grammar with it has to be said some pretty good batting to a total of 273 for 3 off their 35 over's.

In reply Manno needed someone to get a big score to give us a chance, unfortunately as in other weeks wickets fell at regular intervals, Indy (27) and Rory (41) briefly gave us hope of being competitive but unfortunately Indy got a grubber and was gone.

Some fantastic lower order hitting from Danyal (50) and Charit (18) got us past the 170 mark to give us maximum batting points.
Danyal smashed the ball to all parts of the ground in a highly entertaining knock.

We will be back next week in search of that elusive first win.
