Rahul Chandu27 Mar - 23:39

A sit down with rising superstar , Ethan "Shedderz" Shedbal.

1. Who has inspired you most in your cricket journey, and what is the best piece of advice they have given you?
"My dad has inspired me the most as he has been there for me at each step of my cricket journey and has constantly pushed me through the highs and lows. The best advice he has given me is one of his favourite quotes: 'The sea forces setbacks and diversions, but with determination and motivation as the compass, success is bound to eventually be found.' This quote is one of the reasons I am still hungry and yearning for success in the near future, whether in cricket or life in general. Credit must also go to my cricket mentor and Idol , Mr Phil . His words of wisdom and many many many years of experience has helped me go about my game the right way . In particular his own dedication to his fielding."

2. You have progressed from the juniors to scoring back-to-back centuries in the 2nd XI. How did that transition feel, and what was the biggest challenge you faced?
"The transition from only playing softball a few years ago to playing a good standard of cricket was quite unbelievable for me and felt unreal. Throughout this immense progress, I had to deal with challenges such as transitioning to different standards while maintaining consistency. I have navigated these problems with the help of the coaches at the club, as well as senior players and my teammates."

3. Reflecting on your first-team debut last season—was it nerves, excitement, or both? Do you have any funny stories from that day?
"It was amazing! There was loads of excitement getting ready for my debut, but a few nerves just moments before going out to bat. Although it was eventually rained off, I got 14 and had to make the trip back up from Stirling. Overall, it was a very good day out with the 1st XI and I even got to participate in 'fines' later that night, creating joyful memories to look back on."

4. Being the youngest back-to-back century scorer in club history is a huge achievement. Did you ever imagine reaching that milestone when you first started out?
"I never even imagined scoring a century the whole season! I was simply astonished with myself, but I knew that this was only the start. I want to use this achievement as a 'blast off' for this season."

5. Representing Scotland U15 last year must have been a special experience. What was your most memorable moment from that tour or match?
"It was unreal to represent Scotland U15s with an extra year. I’ve got to say my most memorable moment from the campaign was taking the winning wicket during the super over against Middlesex Schools."

6. You are a regular at the club’s pool tables—who is currently your toughest opponent to beat?
"Usually it’s Marcus, but the toughest ever? I think it would be a half-drunk Clark!"

7. After a match or a game, it is "J2O time!" Which flavor is your absolute favorite?
"Has to be Apple & Raspberry—it's my go-to!"

8. What is the funniest or most unforgettable moment you have had at the club, either on or off the field?
"I think the most unforgettable moment was playing fines in the minibus on the way back from St Modens. There were some incredible fines, including James Robb turning on something... 'very interesting'... on the TV in the bar at St Modens!"

9. What are your primary goals for this upcoming season in both the junior and senior sides?
"My goals for this season are quite simple: to be bold but also enjoy it! I also want to win the U15 and U16 Scottish Cups and travel down to England one last time for the ECB U15s Cup."

10. In your opinion, what makes the club special and why should other people consider joining?
"The club is special to me because it is basically my second home. Not only are the ground, the bar, and the pool room amazing, but the players are as well; everyone supports one another and bonds well. The same goes for the community supporting the club—that’s what makes it so special to me and, hopefully, everyone else."
