Over 20 years of service and still going strong .

A Q&A with our Club Vice-President .

1. How did you first get involved with the club as a junior?
I went along to junior training when I was about 9 or 10. I’ve played here ever since.

2. You’ve held many roles at the club, from 2nd XI to 1st XI captain. What would you say has been your greatest achievement here?
Being part of the 2024 team that won the league and cup double.

3. What has been your favourite moment playing for the cricket team?
Same answer as Question two.

4. Who is the biggest dressing-room personality you’ve played with?
It’s tough to pick just one as there are many, and that’s what makes us great.

5. You’re part of the Social League and play with arguably its best player—what’s the one reason you haven’t delivered a league title together yet?
I wonder who wrote these questions… he must be lacking ability.

6. What’s been your best moment in the Social League so far?
Difficult to choose between one of the 147s or the 9-darters.

7. You’ve been Treasurer and are now Vice President—what’s the secret to keeping the President happy?
I've no idea..

8. What’s the current state of the club overall, and what’s changed to put it in a better place?
It’s well documented that the club went through a difficult financial period in recent years, but we’re now in a much stronger position and performing well.
From a cricket perspective, the junior section is thriving thanks to the incredible effort and commitment of Phil and the coaches. The senior teams also look strong, with all four teams having a very good chance of success this season.

9. What does the club mean to you personally?
A great place to play cricket and spend time with teammates and friends.

10. Where do you see the club in five years’ time?
I hope both the junior and senior sections continue to prosper with strong playing numbers at all levels.
The first team competing in the National League, the second team in the SPCU, and strong representation across all four teams from players who have come through the junior section.
I’d also like to see the social membership continue to grow so the club is always busy.
