Aberdeenshire got their season under way with a resounding 116 run victory over Stenhousemuir in the first match of the Scottish Cup group stages.
Batting first Aberdeenshire opened with debutants Calum Howard (42) and Chris Venske (40) who added 75 for the first wicket before Venske skied a leading edge to mid-wicket. Tomlison (39) joined Howard and the pair added a further 40 before Calum offered a return catch to off spinner Jappie.
Harsha Cooray (82) was the next man in and made a welcome return to Aberdeenshire scoring a fine 82 to hoist the Shire total to 244-7 from our 50 overs, ably supported by some late order hitting from Kenny Reid (21).
The Dons innings started perfectly with Tyler Buchan and Daya Singh both claiming wickets early in their spell. The run out of Stenhousemuir's amateur and Sydeny club-mate of Daya Singh reduced the Stenny innings to 31-3 and wickets continued to tumble as Singh (2-19) Cooray (2-30) and Buchan (4-15) turned the screw. Stenhousemuir finishing on 128 all out in the 40th over.
