Aberdeenshire took a step into the unknown on Saturday as they faced Glenrothes at Riverside Park, the first time any of the side had played at the venue.
Winning the toss, Aberdeenshire chose to bowl first on a dry but slightly soft deck. After a short warm up (Old beating Young 3-2)the Dons set about their task and were rewarded with two early scalps as Tyler Buchan (2-11 from 6) removed both openers with only 33 on the board.
Harsha Cooray was next to strike, clean bowling Glenrothes main man Chris Greaves for only 22. 57-3 quickly became 67-6 as Adrian Neill captured three victims for only 11 runs from a fine 7 over spell.
Harsha Cooray (3-22 from 8) and Daya Singh (2-32 from 9.5) cleaned up the tail to close the Glenrothes innings on 88.
The Dons had 50 minutes to bat prior to lunch and were keen to get things over with in a hurry as Chris Venske smacked the first two balls of the innings to the boundary. Venske departed for a quickfire 25 from 19 balls to trigger a mini collapse as Howard (4), Tomlinson (1) and Cooray (5) were all removed prior to the break.
After lucnh Neil MacRae (30*) looked in great touch as he hit 4 boundaries and a SIX (yes...a SIX!) ably supported by Kenny Reid's 13* to see the Dons to victory inside 20 overs.
A good victory against the up and coming Glenrothes leaves the Dons 4 points clear at the top of the group requiring one more victory to seal top spot and qualification for the knock out stages.
