Aberdeenshire come within 10 runs of completing a weekend double over Grange however 271 proves just too much to chase.

24 hours earlier Aberdeenshire had dismissed Grange for just 93, however after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Grange signalled their intent in the first over by smashing a six and a four off the first three balls.

This intent was to be present throughout the Grange innings as the score raced to 60 before Munsey (34) skied a Tyler Buchan slower ball and was caught by Kenny Reid.

After the inital onslaught Aberdeenshire fought back well and were able to pick up wickets at regular intervals through Harsha Cooray (10 overs 2-35) and Adrian Neill (9 overs 2-34) and 105-5 Aberdeenshire had hopes of restricting their hosts to a score of around 220.

However Grange forged a vital partnership of 85 between Goudie (59) and J.Edwards (37) to hoist them to 190 before Goudie tried one big hit too many and was caught at point off the bowling of Neil MacRae.

Edwards followed in the next over, trapped LBW by Tyler Buchan, to swing things back in Aberdeenshire direction and again a score of 220-230 seemed possible.

Once again Grange were able to build a significant partnerships as Worth (40*) and Brock (33*)added 59 for the 9th wicket to close out the Grange innings on 271-8.

On a good wicket and fast outfield Aberdeenshire needed to start well against the new ball to keep up with the rate and debutant Indika Yahathugoda smashed two boundaries through point off Goudie to do just that. However, when attempting a third he was well caught at gully to leave the Dons 9-1 after 1 over.

Kenny Reid was then run out attempting to pinch a run to cover and when Graeme Tomlinson nicked a Goudie delivery behind the Dons were facing an uphill battle at 16-3.

Neil MacRae steadied the ship and together with Harsha Cooray added 42, however Macca was trapped in front for 5 off the bowling of Maiden to reduce the Dons to 58-4.

Last week's cup batting star Daya Signh was again promoted up the order and produced a magnificent partnership with Harsha Cooray to haul the Dons back into the game. The pair added 131 for the 5th wicket through a mixture of clean hitting and good running. Daya was to fall for a well made 69 when adjudged LBW off the bowling of Brock.

Callum Martin strode to the crease and picked up where Daya had left off, smashing 30 effortless runs to keep the Dons up with the rate and in contention going into the final overs. However with 24 required off the final two overs Goudie returned to torment the Dons, conceeding only one run off the penultimate over of the innings picking up the wickets of Martin and Buchan in the process.

Worse was to follow of the first ball of the final over as Cooray was brilliant caught at deep point for a magnificent 115.

Rory Martin was able to bludgeon a quick 12 however Grange ran out 10 run winners and progress to face Arbroath in the next round.
